The Opening Screen
The following is a description of the screen elements you will see after logging into R•Desktop. Most screens include the search panel at the top of the screen, a work area in the middle, and an alerts panel in the lower portion of the screen.
Search Tabs
R•Desktop includes many types of searches. You can search for clients, accounts, holdings, transactions, order book and securities. You can even do searches on your recent past searches or your favorites. The search tabs can be found at the top of the screen.
Action List
The action drop-down list appears to the right of the search tabs. This list is available no matter where you are in R•Desktop. Typical functions include adding a client, viewing prior day’s activity or upcoming events, and opening the report manager.
Action Buttons
Action buttons are used to begin a search or to add a search to your favorites. These buttons appear below the action drop-down list for all search types.
Alerts
Alerts are displayed at the bottom of the screen. Alerts appear based on the alerts selected in the User Preferences and Alert Subscriptions dialog. See the next section for more details. Each alert includes the date, or the time if it is the same day. Alerts are also colour-coded based on the type of alert.
